Corporations spur economic growth and support sustainable development of a country. India witnessed and reaped its rich dividend after industrial reform in 1991. The Central Government’s recent decisions on demonetization and the Goods and Services Tax (GST) have temporarily put the brakes on India’s growth. The government itself has attributed this short term slow down as a temporary pain for long term gain. Anyway, whatever may be the reform measures, the contribution of the members of ICAI serving in the Industry and business, in particular, remains mammoth to get those regulatory rules implemented in its true letter and spirit and that too, in a time bound manner. One of the core objectives of the Committee for Professional Accountants in Business & industry (CPABI) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is to facilitate the members serving in the industry and to connect them with the mainstream activities of the Institute. Those members are rendering their expert services to various business entities of all sizes and belonging to different sectors. Besides proving their mettle in the core areas, accounting, auditing and taxation, they have expanded their horizon to include other roles such as designing business strategies and playing an overall leadership role in all type of business endeavors. To acknowledge the exemplary achievements of those members who have made the Profession proud, the CPABI holds an annual event in the form of ICAI-Awards and this time it will happen at Mumbai on 19th January, 2018 I feel privileged to invite all the members working in industry to participate in the mega event ICAI Awards.
